Today is finish it up day !

Well our last day in Mississippi so everyone is finishing things, Ken is done with cabinets so he and Jeremy are putting ceiling crown up that they had already painted and holds rope lights near the ceiling, clear around the dining, breakfast nook and family room. Jamie and I are loading dishwasher loads to finish moving clean things into the kitchen cabinets. Aileron is finishing up begging some crumbs on the cheddar bay bisquits we made for lunch....YUM! The 2 big dogs are finishing naps out in the sun. Quite a change has occurred since we arrived 5 days ago, we've made big messes, cleaned them up, made more, but as things get finished they seem less. Plans for going out to dinner tonight to celebrate ! What fun it's been !

Mississippi news

Hello from Mississippi, no pictures of course since I didn't bring my cord ! Ken is busy putting trim up on the cabinets, so pretty to see them finished! Jamie and I took the blankets all back to Uhaul today, the man wasn't to happy to see 102 blankets arrive on a one way rental...oh well ! Jeremy is off taking his certifcation for teaching civilian flying and beagle is begging any time you might be close to food ! It's cool and brisk, much colder than Arizona but we've had sunshine all week. The mess is clearing up with the blankets all gone, cabinets all hung, only trim here and there. We had a fun bonfire after our Mississippi mexican food last night, the best mango margarita I've had for $3 ! Double the size of one you'd get in Arizona ! Jamie gave me a little tour of things in Columbus this morning and introduced me to McDonalds carmel frappe ! A fun little treat for $2 ! Wonder if Arizona has them !??!? Jeremy should be back soon and I have a feeling a stove will be installed and perhaps some ceiling crown started. The dishwasher is running, one of many loads to come to clean things up from all the construction dust. So I'll continue my supervising as Ken is up and down the ladder and beagle is sure since I"m at the table that food must be near !

Yea for Internet

Yea for Jeremy finishing hooking up the electronics in the newly cabinet installed laundry room so I can play on their lap top instead of my Iphone ! Jamie is off to work and expecting updates at noon. Jeremy is installing baseboards in the laundry room, the cabinet in there looks so nice with the counter we bought at Loews yesterday, I have a feeling by the end of the day Jamie's washer and dryer will be hooked back up and that room finished with cabinets. It looks so nice in there from the family room to see the bank of cabinets and tall broom cabinet. So cool after imagining them in the cabinet shop to see them where they live ! Ken is in the kitchen getting the penninsula sitting level on the new stone floor. He's thinking by the end of today the lower cabinets should all be in place. They puttered until 11:00 last night while Jamie and I were mastering guitar hero, I moved onto medium level without any booing ! My little featherweight sewing machine is humming along upstairs alternating between "boring" pillowcase job cases and something new for our little Chris/MB baby on the way. What fun ! So that's an update for the day, Aileron is having a nap...shock ! And the 2 big dogs are outside doing what they do ! The sun is out and yesterdays cold breeze is gone so a walk might be in store for me if the guys don't find a big job for me !

Hello from Mississippi!

Hello from Columbus Mississippi! ALL WENT WELL WITH OUR TREK AND THE TRAILER TOO, IT WAS FUN WATCHING JEREMY & KEN IN THE BACK OF THE TRAILER LAST NIGHT WHEN WE GOT HERE TAKING THE BULKHEAD OUT AND PEEKING WITH FLASHLIGHTS. WHAT FUN TO SEE ALL THE GREAT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HOUSE SINCE WE WERE HERE LAST SEPT. IN THE DEPTHS OF THE "GUTTING" OF THE LOWER LEVEL! IT FEELS LIKE A HOME NOW! WE

WENT OUT FOR SOME SOUTHERN BBQ LAST NIGHT THEN JAMIE INTRODUCED ME TO GUITAR HERO ON THE WII WHILE THE GUYS DID MEASURING& PLANNING. TODAY JAMIE IS OFF TO WORK,THE TRAILER IS NOW UNLOADED, EVERYTHING ARRIVED IN GREAT SHAPE , 1 DOOR HAD A MINOR RUB ABOUT 1 INCH& FIXABLE, 2 DRAWERS HAD THE GLIDES BREAK OUT ON ONE SIDE , THEY WERE IN THE FORWARD SECTION AND THE RATTLING MUST HAVE BROKE THEM LOOSE SO THEY WILL TRY & BREAK THE SIDE OFF TO REPLACE, NOT BAD FOR 1700 MILES ! SO KEN & JEREMY UNLOADED, I SUPERVISED THE BLANKET FOLDING OF102 UHAUL BLANKETS... DID U KNOW THEY ARE MADE FROM RESCYCLED BLUE JEANS! ALERION & I KEPT BUSY PICKING UP ALL THE DOWNED BRANCHES FROM THE WINTER FOR FIREWOOD, I GUESS ALL THAT WALKING AROUND THE ACREAGE WILL COUNT FOR EXCERCISE TODAY! THEY'VE STARTED INSTALLING THE LAUNDRY ROOM SO JEREMY CAN WORK ON PUTTING THINGS BACK ON HIS TIME OFF. THERE ARE CABINETS AND DRAWERS & SHELVES EVERYWHERE! THEY JUST ARRIVED TO HAUL AWAY THE TRAILER, WHAT A GREAT WAY TO TRANSPORT THINGS! I HEAR THERE IS A TRIP TO LOEWS IN THE WORKS SO I'LL GO SET UP MY SEWING MACHINE UNTIL I NEED TO SUPERVISE SOME MORE!

Birmingham

WE MADE IT TO BIRMINGHAM YEA! AND YOU CAN BLOG FROM YOUR IPHONE! CAN U BELIEVE IT! ALTHOUGH I CAN'T GET THE CAPS TO STAY OFF AND NO PICTURES UNLESS I FIGURE THAT OUT TOO! FLIGHT FROM PHX WAS GREAT WE LANDED & JEREMY CALLED AS SOON AS WE TOUCHED DOWN TO SAY THE TRAILER HAD JUST ARRIVED AOK, HE PEEKED OVER THE BULKHEAD & SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD INSIDE. 44 DEGREES HERE, BRRR CLOUDY & LOOKS LIKE WINTER W/NO LEAVES ON THE TREES. KEN IS ANXIOUS TO SEE HIS CABINETS & WASN'T A VERY GOOD SPORT AT LOOSING AT RUMMY ! SO HELLO EVERYONE FROM A RENTAL CAR SOMEWHERE IN THE DEEP SOUTH OF ALABAMA!!

Rainy Day Adventure

My two Big Boy Grandsons were off to have a Grammy Adventure with me today and we had to change courses because it was raining ! The boys picked to go to the mall and play there, so off we went, they wanted to go to Grammy's Mall instead of "their" mall. We had fun, checked out the new toy area...Shared a pretzel with cheese...

Took a ride on the Carousel....top level in fact ! Altho they wanted to just sit on a bench instead of animals. And shhhhhhh don't tell but we got gumballs...Garretts was red can you tell?

Then we went to Chick fil A for lunch, so we played on the toys there and gobbled our lunch down and went home. The 2 hours turned into 3 but we sure had a fun adventure, we'll have to do our outdoor one we had planned....exploring and hiking around at the Riparian Preserve....next time, thanks for the fun little guys !

PS....for those of you watching the cabinet trek, they are supposedly leaving Albuquerque on their way to Little Rock Arkansas, Ken is counting the hours until he can tell if the load traveled safely !

Spring has arrived !

What a beautiful day in Arizona today ! It was chilly in the 50's this morning but it was great as the morning wore on it warmed up and I got to take my little Thursday buddy to an outdoor play area at the San Tan Mall. We got to go visit the pet store, Ethan loved looking in the outside window and then he saw people go in and figured there was more fun inside so we went and visited all the puppies !

This was alot more fun than snacks in a cart at Walmart getting Grammies Groceries !

On another note for everyone I heard thru the Schuld tracking devices via Ken and Jeremy that the truck of cabinets is in Albuquerque! yea !

Another table mat finished

Another project done...the center of this was given to me in some bags of scraps from a friend so I decided it was to pretty to live in there. I added borders and quilted it... And now it's off to Chris and MB's house to live on their nice big square table. It's 40 inches square so should fit nicely squared up or on the diagonal.

Cabinet Saga Chapter 3

For all of you following the Cabinet Saga of the build/deliver/install progress of the Capt. Jeremy and Jamie cabinets here is the result of a very exciting day ! Jeremy only called 5 times today Ken said so I think he's wishing he was in Arizona ! So for all of you lurking out there, I took tons of photos so Jeremy could see details so here we go...

This is what the "rough" wood that was delivered for stair treads...yes stair treads are going on the truck looked like, pretty yucky looking oak...

And here are stair treads waiting to load ! They are going to be so pretty.

Ken went out and about today and got plywood for anchoring the cabinets in the trailer and all these bags full of blankets Jeremy' had reserved from U-haul...

So the big news is that the trailer was delivered and is ready to load, I stopped after work and took all the details in ! Here it is backed up to the garage doors at the shop.And yes here a a side view... Here is the platform Ken's using for loading with the fork lift, thank goodness for forklifts ! They aren't just for Grandson rides ! It'll be a big help with the loading and Jeremy will be on the other end for unloading !

Here are some of the cabinets waiting to get loaded with the doors on that I havn't showed. This is the upper for over the corner unit in the dining room ( I think). Very pretty glass doors.

This is the laundry cabinet. All the electronics will go in the one on the right. ( I might have these all messed up but this is what I think I was seeing ! )

Here is the black island, sorry it didn't photograph so good with the glare of the lights, should have moved to the side more. You can't see how pretty the doors are and the bead board on the side.

So that is it for tonight, the loading will continue tomorrow with hopes of them picking the trailer up on wed. to start it's trek.

Finished Table Runner

Finished another UFO ! Yeah ! This table runner needed a home so it went in the mail to Jeremy and Jamie for their new table. It was fun to finish up and do lots of quilting on!

Thornberries meeting today !

Before I get to the quilt meeting I had to show you this cute picture I took this morning of Beans. Chris and MB's 2nd kitty. Baxter was off in the corner meowing, but Beans thought it was cool to keep me company for a bit while I was doing some stuff for Chris ! Isn't she cute ! So Sue hosted our quilt meeting today, it was fun to catch up as I'd missed the January meeting while Jeremy and Jamie were here for our christmas. Here's Judy, Bobbi and Terry P. all taking pictures of Sue's tree quilt. See that pretty leaf quilt on her wall, that was one of our group projects, my leaf blocks unfortunatly live in a baggie, but are hoping to come out soon !

Here's Lorene going thru the Fat Quarter Bucket for her prizes. She finished lots of UFO's and we get prizes of FQ's for finishing them, so she was getting a big stack for all she'd gotten done !

Here's Terry P. and Barb. I made that quilt behind them for Sue a couple years ago for Christmas when I had her name.

Here is one of Lorene's finished quilts. She was busy putting the binding on. These are the same blocks from a challenge we both had done from a local shop. Mine from that group were the ones I put into Kristin's quilt for her wedding. I got to work on prepping lots of applique so it was fun to get to visit and get that done. Prepping things to take along to Mississippi soon to work on !

So we had a marvelous lunch and great time visiting, had lots of things we were swapping out this month and then off I went to go pick up my two big boys for a bit of Grammy time. Of course the first thing they said when I asked where do you want to go was Swirl. So here is Aiden there showing me his first loose bottom tooth.

Here is Garrett again with his yummy choices ! We had fun next at the park and enjoyed swinging and playing on the big toy ! Garrett was getting very brave climbing places he's not gone before and was so proud he'd yell Aiden look at your Brother !

What a busy day !

I had a busy day full of fun ! First of all starting the day was this cute little boy ! Ethan and I had such fun at McDonalds, having McGriddles and milk and lots of running play ! He went down the slide feet first too ! and then of course we had to get Grammy's groceries ! Lunch with Mindy and Chris, a bit of time then helping Chris with a few things he's behind on in the paper work dept. ! and then this afternoon Ken and I went over to my folks to have dinner with a 2nd cousin of mine that was in town. This is Nick and Ferrol. It was so nice to get reaquainted with them and have a nice dinner my Mom fixed. Ferrol was always the cousin that was so nice to play with my sister and I when we would be visiting our Grandparents in Kansas. She was a bit older but was always so nice to play the piano for us and take us for rides on her horse. Fun memories a long time ago !

Super Bowl

We had a fun evening, Chris and MB invited us over with her family to watch the super bowl and eat dinner. We had a great time, just stayed for the first half and ate brats and BBQ ribs with them. It was nice to see her folks, they are here for the week from Idaho. Here is Chris, MB and her Dad Steve. It was fun for Ken to watch the game with a football coach and the guys, much better than just our 2 cats ! Thanks for the fun evening !

The Story continues...

So today on my way to work I stopped at the shop since Ken had called to say , time for more pictures....and Jamie had asked...have you seen the doors yet???? So here are some new current shots... Here is the island, waiting patiently for it's doors and drawer fronts.... it has drawers now ! and look there are the corables.

And look Jamie there is your Garbage drawer !!!! So here are some of the doors all being sprayed in the spray room, these are the ones that get glass...

And here is a whole bunch of them getting finished...Then I get a phone call at work saying come back and take more pictures on your way home !
So here is the kitchen all sitting as it will sit in Mississippi, with the doors on !

And here were the last to be finished, I think these were the broom cabinet doors for the laundry room.

Snuggle kind of day

My little buddy wasn't quite feeling tip top today so we just came home to hang out. Had a snack and during his breathing treatment and some little bear he fell asleep in my lap, so here he is all peaceful and having a little morning rest. Poor little guy, how often do you get to snuggle a 17 month old when they are sooooo busy ! He woke up happy and had part of an otter pop, went kitty hunting to share his popsicle and then we had to go on home. Ethan I hope you feel better soon.

Another cabinet update

I stopped at the cabinet shop today to see what was new in the Jeremy and Jamie cabinet department !

they have UPPERS ! And lots of TRIM...

AND an ISLAND !
Ken clamped it all together and put the base up to the bottom for the picture. The bead board side is the side that will face the family room with the granite overhang for bar stools.

It's getting closer !!!!! The doors were being delivered today so lots of staining and finishing is next on the list !
