Mothers Day Luncheon

We got to enjoy a wonderful Mothers Day Luncheon with my Mom at their church on Mothers Day weekend.  We met early to spend a bit of extra time together,

 Mom had a pretty snack out for us to enjoy with my Dad too before he went down to join the "men serving" the lunch.  These strawberries were so pretty in her bowl they looked fake!

 The lunch had a fun "shoe" theme going with cute little favors on the table. the center pieces were high heels with a flower arrangement and beads, so cute and clever!

 I caught this photo of my dad....he was on "drink duty"... The men served us and then escaped to the kitchen to enjoy their lunch too!

 The entertainment was "the Timeless Tappers".  This great group of retired gals that tap danced for us, 8 numbers!  Costume changes and all!  They did a great job!  The gal in the furthest back corner is 91, wow!  In between their numbers their choreographer did a great number, she's a clogger and boy did she go fast!  I saw the men come peeking out of the kitchen when she came on in her fun little outfit!  She was great.  What a nice service this group does, the room was packed with ladies and their guests, what a great start to the mothers day weekend for us!

Quilt meeting

We enjoyed our May quilt meeting at Sue's house and had such a nice time.  We had a bit of show and tell...Here is Lorene, isn't this a great quilt, for her grandson's graduation.  We all made a star years and years ago in a swap and this is how she set it, great isn't it!

 This is for a new grandson, it's cat in the hat fabric and bright and cute! love the zig zag!

 Sue finished her zig zag quilt, ahhhhhhh we swapped all this little 30's rectangles for this quilt....ahhhhh....mine still live in their baggie......ho hum.  We had a great lunch, Sue had a fun theme...brunch for lunch...so we all brought breakfasty things and had a yummy lunch, lots of fun!

New skirts!

We've been working on skirts for this bunch at our monday night sewing time.  And tonight they finished!  We started one night with making them each a pattern to fit their body and oh my goodness they all fit perfect! whew! Here is Jen...

 and my sister Marcy...I made them all model even if it didn't go with their top! Hers is purple...

 And here is Alissa's!  They are all hooked and realizing how easy a skirt is and how cool they will feel in the summer!  They are all going to wear them once to make sure they are comfortable and fit nice and then we are going to try one more with me helping before they jump in and try one on their own. They'll be hunting in the closet for that top that they have nothing to wear with and off to find fabric and it'll be a new outfit!  How easy is that! They all did such a great job!

A quick Happy Mothers day to all the wonderful mothers out there, from Mothers, Grandmothers, 

sisters, aunts, daughters and friends!  Hope your day was spent just as sweetly as mine!  I'm sure your families all made it so special.  I'll post more on mine soon!  

Morning visitors!

We had a fun surprise of some visitors one morning this week.  These 3 ducks came by for a visit!  I didn't even notice them until I walked out on our patio after our morning walk. All the sudden I heard a splash and there was one swimming in the pool, pretty soon another...

 This one seemed content to just hang out on the deck.  Sure gave Katie and Emma something to do all morning watching thru the window!  I came home after work and they'd gone, guess the eating wasn't to good in that water, time to move on!

Buggy Barn stars

We got our Buggy Barn stars quilt hung up at ETC this week.  I really like how fun and bright it turned out, twin size so it'll fit some little boys bed!  Our class is coming up on Sat. June 9th.

 You'll love how fun these are to make, a few new techniques in buggy barn construction and carefree as always!  I'd love to see this done in patriotic colors!  You use all Fat Quarters and it's fun to see what happens!

Here come the apricots!

Well I've only picked a few little apricots to try until last night when we picked a big BRANCH worth!  We had a gusher of a storm come thru and lost a branch on the apricot tree. Of course it was full so we drug it up onto the patio and Ken and I stripped all the apricots off so now we have several huge trays on the counter with them ripening.  I feel bad the branch broke off since we'd had the tree trimmed but it was very heavy with fruit. Just glad more didn't break off, that was some storm, still had water sitting in the yard this morning! Haven't seen rain in forever and then we got it all in an hour!  Dirt first of course, it hit on my way home from work so crept home during the dust storm and drenching rain, glad to have it!

Happy little snowmen!

I took another sample in to ETC. this week, these cute little guys!  It's a round table mat or a tree skirt if you desire!  It's for our Holly Jolly Days in July.  There is a choice of Christmas trees going around the circle ( that sample is coming) if you'd rather, they are both cute!  These guys were so fun to make and fun to dress!

Sunday morning

Ken and I had an early sunday morning, walk at the Riparian as it was getting light, a fun b-fast on the patio at Paradise and then yard work, and we were done and in cooling off by 9AM!  It was fun to pick more than a handful in my garden today, every day it's a handful of tomatoes and another handful of lettuce, but today we've got enough for a huge salad, I even found a lonely radish to slice on top!  So a few green beans with more on the way, I've got squash coming, watching 2 right now, each day I think, shall I pick it and then say oh maybe one more day.  You watch I'll get nuts and forget about it and then it'll be HUGE!  or some critter will take a bite out of it, so at least for today I'm watching them!

Fun day with Bode

What a fun morning I had on Saturday with Bode.  MaryBeth was so sweet and asked me to join them for a walk at the great park they love going to.  We fed the ducks...not many today tho.

 We walked the big loop, what pretty vistas await each turn.  Lots and lots of jack rabbits!  Then we got to go see the critter tanks inside the education area.  They have baby turtles!  They were so perfect and cute!

 It was a great morning with this little guy! Then we decided to go to the cabinet shop to see what the guys were getting done.

 Bode squeeled and went running to Daddy!

 And then the fork life took center stage!  He was a bit timid for the first 15 seconds, and then he discovered what it did...beep beep goes the horn, the lights, the forks go up and down and sideways...

 Going for a ride was the best!  He could have stayed on it all day!

 A bit of the building that was going on.....a new closet for Bode's new room.  Baby will get Bode's old room with the closet all built in already so now Bode's closet is getting done before he moves in to his new room!  What a fun time for everyone today!  Love these kinds of days!

All Cut Up

Here's a HUGE leak for you all.....this is what we are doing at All Cut Up on wed. this next week.  We have this really neat way to do a Cathedral window block by machine and using charm squares....yep it's so neat! This used to be all done by lots of handwork and very tediously put together but guess what!  We made it easy!  We made this one into a pillow but I can just see a whole bigger project out of this pattern.  It was so neat to do and realize how easy it is!  So All Cut Up is wed. at 11:00....I know you guys are out their lurking waiting to see what I leak ( I've seen students Iphones being passed around class sharing what I leaked on my blog for our class the next day!!!!....so there you go....You are going to love this demo!!!...and it's only $2.50, includes the pattern and your coupon back for $2.50!!!....see you on Wednesday at ETC.!!!! Just Bode

Just a cute picture of cute little Bode!  He and Chris called on their way to the mall toys for some play  time after work/daycare so Ken and I went and enjoyed watching him running around and then we had PIZZA!  He's getting so big so fast!
