Ken's birthday

We had a fun family dinner the other night celebrating Ken's birthday. We all met at Joe's Farm grill so we could celebrate Ken and he could complete the "trifecta"! The 3 Joe's restaurants all give you $10 credit on your birthday so of course Ken and I went to Liberty market for b-fast. He got some Joe's bbq for lunch and then I treated the gang to some great food at the Farm grill. We love that place, casual outdoor atmosphere on picnic tables and food that is so good. The boys all had fun running around in the grass, here is Garrett, he had pizza...
Bode's just having fun cuz he had a bite of everyones, and he got to eat by his cousins!
Here's Chris, Chris and Ken...
And here come "the boys".... they all got light up swords for party favors, yea dollar store! ( I"m just glad they all worked!)

Ken with lots of help blowing out the candles...
what a fun time, birthdays are pretty cool!

Papa's Shop

Three little boys came to stay with us this past weekend while their Mommy and Daddy were off on the other side of the world on their trip to Paris. I drove up to Carefree to their other Grandparents house first thing friday morning to get my oldest 3 grandsons. We decided to make a stop on our way home to see Papa at his shop.....the following gobs and gobs of photo's are from the fun we had in the 2 hours we were there. First thing Papa did was show them his HUGE VACUUM ( dust collector!) How fun to watch all the wood shavings and sawdust just go right up that vent!!!! time to move on but they could have done that for hours on it's own! They all decided they wanted to build something...Papa pulled out some wood and they each got to build a box.
Ethan getting ready for some loud noise from the saw! He turned 3 this summer and is Mr. independent and so ready to be a big kid!
Here is Garrett, he turned 5 this summer and informed me he's gotten his kindergarten shots so he's ready for school next year!
Aiden our 2nd grader is 7 and has a mouth full of teeth of every size with some gone, some coming in and some part way up, so cute!
They all got to use the power nailer and nail their box together...
Long post I know but how many 3 year olds get to sit on Papa's work bench and help nail a box! It was a very special time for Papa too!

Look it works to sit on ...
Aiden checking his out to stand on...
Garrett came home and immediately put all kinds of things inside his, all his little animals and special things he'd brought along.
Then even more fun....every little boys dream.....riding on the fork lift!
Making the forks go up and down, Papa found all kinds of things that "just needed" to be moved, so they hauled sheets of wood from one side to the other...
Made the forks go up and down....do you think Garrett is having fun?

Ethan ready for his turn...
Lots of fun moving those levers...

Ethan you did a great job!
Aiden getting his turn, they got to go outside....
and run those forks way up as tall as the building!

They moved Papa's truck tool box....and yep they could have done that all day too!
What fun was that! Fun memories in the making for these little guys!
We left Papa and went on home to see what other things we could do on our fun day! More photos of that to come!

Pool Guy

So "pool guy" (blurry/broken camera again...BOO!) here was hard at work the last few weeks keeping our pool running, our poor pump is 15 years old and having a hard time. So every night Ken would go out and dump bucket after bucket of water into it to try and get it to prime. So over the labor day weekend he tried fixing it with new seals, then as we watched it try to prime, tons of water came gushing out the bottom....a crack had developed, so back to the pool store and home we came with this new pump. It's now happily installed and running like a champ. I guess the old one didn't owe us anything after that many years. How nice not to rush home to baby sit the pool pump!

More on the quarters

Several of you have commented or emailed that you'll join the hunt of the missing quarters. I thought the picture would show it better but here is a list.....
Pennsylvania mint - Iowa, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands, Virgin Islands,Washington Obverse, fifty state obverse.
Denver Mint - Guam, Northern Marinara Islands, Virgin Islands, Washington Obverse, fifty state obverse
And on a side note the hammer was required as the "tap in place" tool. These folders hold the quarters in very tight so if you are in construction that means you use a hammer !

Quarters

We've been collecting the state quarters for a long time now and the holder we used to keep them in got ruined so for Fathers Day Ken got new holders to organize them . This weekend he started placing them in their appropriate spots. One holder is for ones struck in the Denver mint and the other has the P for the Pennsylvania mint on them. It seemed to involve a hammer too !!!! :-) Only a few are missing. It is harder for us to find the Pennsylvania mint ones here in the west. He got holders for the new "America the Beautiful" quarters that have started this year, commemorating all the National Parks. I have yet to see one tho but we are gonna keep watching !

Tank Master

Well Ken has reached a new level, can you believe it ! All you Wi players out there will understand ! TANKS is the Game !For me.....I know it gets serious when I walk thru the room and he's gone from sitting in the recliner to standing up, gotta stand up and get right in front ! Then when he yells, "come see" , you know it's really good, but then you can't talk or stand to close !
The new record of "kills" is 337 tanks, to level 71 ! I even got a picture of his little Mi jumping up and down ! whew ! So not only can he scorch scorpions he is the TANK MASTER !

Ken the cabinet guy

So I stopped at the shop today to take pictures for Jeremy and Jamie of their kitchen being built, a bit of an update for them since they left on sunday and it was all just a pile of wood. So I thought I'd throw one photo on here, this is their penninsula, those are going to be nice big drawers for pots and pans and things ! I'm sure Jamie has that all figured out ! For those of you "lurking" :-) the rest of the photo's you'll get to see on their blog I"m sure as I just sent to J&J via email, Ken's going to actually set the kitchen up so as he finishes them he can put them in their place. The stain looked wonderful since the other pieces were all in the spray room with their finished coat on them. How fun to get to see them go together. This will turn into an ongoing saga as they are all going to be transported to Mississippi when done.
