Thornberries Thanksgiving gathering

We had a wonderful time with my quilt group at Joes BBQ the day after thanksgiving. Our friend Terry P. who moved to California was in town so everyone moved aside their busy days and took time to come and meet her and catch up. We had a great time and it was so good to see her! She and I had met for breakfast one day this week, we enjoyed the time chatting so much that all the sudden we both looked at the time and realized we'd been there 2 1/2 hours!

It was great we could all meet and have lunch at Joes on friday and again chatted for 3 hours!She got her Christmas present from Bobbi.... just a tad late by 2 years but still done and on it's way home to California!
Sue brought her 9 patch quilt to show her since she hadn't seen it together, she's making a cool border for it next, this is the one that mine live in a baggie.....sigh...
This was another one Sue finished that Terry P. hadn't seen so it was fun to share things. This was another swap we have done with these blocks...yep mine occupy a baggie! Terry brought alot of her little blocks of applique and our Block Challenge Group squares so those were fun to look at, and of course everyone is talking about what our next swap to move on to will be.
Such a beautiful day out and so nice to visit with friends, we sure have missed Terry but so glad she's still a part of us as we mail things back and forth!

Thornberries quilt meeting in November

We had our Thornberrie quilt group meeting for November and I had all my churn dash blocks ready to turn in. This has been an ongoing swap this summer and I've been getting mine done a bit at a time. I finally turned them all in this month. 7 people participated and they each got one of each color, so I made 7 of 7 varieties. They were alot of fun to do and since I can't count I still have parts for more floating around in the sewing room to finish up. I have a great pile of these now from everyone else, it's going to be fun to put this quilt together. Look at this great top that Lorene is working on. She brought it to get opinions on the border. Ahh it's going to be so pretty. Barb finished up this cute cat quilt she's donating to a group. Isn't it cute!
And here is Sue with her finished UFO for this month. OH MY GOSH isn't this amazing, Sue has been finishing so many big things this year. This group leaves me so inspired! Our Christmas party is next month at my house so everyone is finishing up their secret person's gift!

Thornberries quilt meeting for October

I only took a couple ph0to's at this months meeting, we had a great time at Lorene's house, she had a great lunch for us all planned with a halloween theme. We all brought parts but she made it fun with all her cute decorations. Here is a top she's finished, we did these little girls as a group one year, we all made ourselves with the same pattern and then gave each member one of "us". Mine is that pink one over on the top right. Our names are on the hearts. This came out so cute, mine lives in a baggie...ho hum.Look what Sue got done, this was also a swap we did as a group, making a certain number of blocks for each person, ahhhhh this came out so cute. I'm contemplating breaking mine out and sewing them into several baby quilts, it sure is cute. For now, mine live in their baggie...sigh...

Lorene got this top done. These were all fabrics we gave her for her birthday one year...it's so good to see her use them and look how great they are, striking!

Thornberry quilt meeting for July

Our Thornberries Quilt meeting was at my house for July. Only 4 of us were here but we had a great time sewing and working on our projects. Sue has an ongoing project of a kit I gave her from another friend named Sue. I figured she'd get to it before me and it's turning out beautiful. The center was done and she's moved on to the next part. Was so neat to see.

She finished her notions tote too, hers has an applique blueberry seed pack on the front, so cute. Was fun to get together and swap all our goodies and chat. We had a great lunch too. See you all next month!

Thornberry's quilt meeting in May

We had our Thornberry quilt group meeting at Sue's house in May. It was nice enough to sit outside and eat our lunch. There is L-R Sue, Barb, Bobbi, Lorene and Judy.We had tons of wonderfully finished projects so I'll show you all to inspire you! Here is Sue's pretty christmas quilt that Louise had quilted for her, she just needs to bind it!
She finished this Asian one, it's huge!

And we had 2 birthdays to celebrate this month, Sue and Barb! I made them a yummy berry trifle for our dessert. You girls keep me inspired! Thanks for the fun day!

Thornberries quilt meeting in April

I got to go to my quilt groups meeting today and had such a fun day sewing with "the girls" Barb got her rec room at her development for us again and we sewed from 8:30 until 5, of course we took a break and had a great potluck lunch we brought in but it was fun to work on lots of the things I'd packed up! Of course most are either gifts so you can't see them yet or for classes which you'll see when they are finished on here anyway! But here is a sneak peak at some of the other productive gals work! Sue was working on this great batik scrap quilt, oh it just sparkled, it's now on my list of "need to do that "!Louise finished up this darling quilt, loved the scallop border!
Barb finished this darling stitched puppy dog quilt, sorry the photo's are a little rough!
She had this chicken one finished too, all hand embroidery on there, so cute with the mommy chicken chasing the babies. I have these patterns I've wanted to do and some are even traced....living in a baggie, ho hum!
This big quilt was one that Sue finished, so pretty, she always finds the best backs, this one has pictures of the presidents all over it and is so cute to look at and the colors were perfect!
Lorene made this one for her granddaughter's birthday, so pretty and pink!
And she's working on anther pile of christmas quilts ( she's just a machine!)
So we had a great time. I realized when I downloaded all my photo's I"d forgotten to take pictures of my classes on thursday, 6 students started in my intermediate quilt class so I"ll have to remember to show you photo's next time, they all had a great start!

Thornberry quilt meeting in March

We had our quilt meeting for March out at Barb's house and she let us go to their subdivision rec. area to sew. We made a full day of it and everyone came early and we got to sew until 4:00. Of all things I forgot my camera.....me ! I can't believe it. It was a great day tho and we all enjoyed the sewing while visiting and then of course we had a great potluck lunch. So I just snapped these two shots on my phone of 2 quilts that Sue brought to show. This one she finished up is just darling.

And here are the blocks from our Halloween swap that we did, she has her top done! Yea for Sue. Mine are in a baggie, ho hum. Five of us did these blocks, we each made one for everyone, I had the cats etc. So I made everyone the cat blocks. It came out so cute, I'll be anxious to get mine out and finish it.

Thornberries in Feb.

We had our Feb. Thornberry quilt meeting at Lorene's house this month. We did something new this time and started a pin cushion round robin. This is the base for mine. It is in a sack and got handed off to one of the other people ( 4 are doing it) and now they'll add some kind of stitching or embellising to it, next month they'll bring it back, then it'll go on to the next person to add something to it. Finally in May I'll get the little top back and can make it into a pincushion. Some people chose a theme but I said anything goes with mine. So here it is, we'll see what it looks like in a few months!Lorene had such a fun Valentine party theme going. We did a baked potato bar and had a few salads and sides, desserts to go with it. Somehow we always throw together a great lunch!
Here is Louise's quilt she finished, it was her challenge UFO project to get done!
Lorene had this pretty one done, a kalidascope out of the rose fabric border. We had a great time and before we knew it, it was 4:00 and we all went scurrying out the door, you can tell when everyone is having such fun the time just zooms. It was great to talk and laugh and catch up with these friends while we sewed at the dining room table!

Thornberries Christmas Party

I hosted our quilt group the Thornberries Christmas party again this year. All ready and waiting for everyone to come.....We played alot of games, everyone brought a white elephant, fatquarters, little silly presents so we had a great time! Sue won all the fat quarters as we played with LRC.
Bobbi won all the star blocks with another round of LRC.
We had so many beautiful gifts to open and then dinner, everyone brought yummy dishes from appetizers to punch and Barb brought the ham and we had great sides to go with it.

We exchange names for the gifts and have alot of fun all year planning something for our special person. Lorene got this from Terry P. who we missed ( she moved to CA but is our long distance member!)This came in the mail and was just beautiful!
Lorene made me this beautiful bag, it's going to be the perfect travel bag, has a place for your lap top, and lots of compartments, very sturdy and stands up so nice, then even an umbrella pocket! It's just wonderful and I love it!

Judy made these 3 wallhangings for Sue, all cute cats.
Louise made this flannel quilt for Mindy and Mindy had Louise's name and made her that pretty red work stocking, wish I'd have taken a close up, it's so cute with snowmen all stitched on it.
So here we are minus Terry P. That's me in the back, then Louise, Judy, Mindy, Lorene, Then the front has Barb, Bobbi and Sue. Lots of chit chat about what our plans for this next year will be, new swaps and projects to work on, we keep each other inspired, so many neat things come out of this very talented group, I'm lucky to be a part of it!

Stars

Here are some star blocks that I made this week for our Thornberry Christmas party. We always play a game LCR, where you pass quarters(or whatever) to the right/left depending on what you roll on the dice. Sometimes the item goes into the center and is dead, the last one standing gets them all. Well last year we played with Fat Quarters, this year we are playing again with fat quarters and another time with Star blocks. We decided on any mix of red/green/gold/cream for the stars and they should be 12/9/6/3 for the finished measurement. I thought I better get mine done since life will probably get nuts so here are my 3. Someone will be so lucky to win all these blocks and have an entire quilt ready to put together!

Angels

I finished my little angel blocks for our swap in Thornberries. Remember the little deer I did earlier, well these are part of that group, I'll turn mine in and each member will get one while I receive one that they've made of a different block. One of these days I'll line up all the different ones we've done, they are so cute! By the 10th one tho you are a bit sick of them. I started these on my trip to Mississippi last spring when we took the cabinets to Jeremy and Jamie's house. So yea they are done. I picked this one to do out of the book of course because of the American flag on the angel!
