Bode Time

I got some Bode time in this week. After my Sew and go class I got to go pick Bode up at his Day Care house. It was wonderful to meet Robin and her husband and Bode's other little play mates. We went back to his house to play and have a bottle and a bath. He downed his milk like a pro and had to have more out of the freezer later! Bode you are such a cutie and so fun to be around, pleasant and squealing and giggling! Grammy had a fun time ! MB came home from teaching her teachers and Chris was packed and ready to take the red eye to his conference so I played super shuttle and dropped him off at the curb at 10:00, boy he was in for a long night.

Stars

Here are some star blocks that I made this week for our Thornberry Christmas party. We always play a game LCR, where you pass quarters(or whatever) to the right/left depending on what you roll on the dice. Sometimes the item goes into the center and is dead, the last one standing gets them all. Well last year we played with Fat Quarters, this year we are playing again with fat quarters and another time with Star blocks. We decided on any mix of red/green/gold/cream for the stars and they should be 12/9/6/3 for the finished measurement. I thought I better get mine done since life will probably get nuts so here are my 3. Someone will be so lucky to win all these blocks and have an entire quilt ready to put together!

Sew and Go Wallet Class

We had a great time at Scrapbooks Etc. yesterday at our Sew and Go class. Everyone did so well on their wallets and they were so happy with them. Everyone kept up really well with all the steps on the little parts.Clara loved hers when she finished.
this was Pat's first time to come, we are done for this year with Sew and Go so everyone be getting geared up for Jan. 4th when we kick it off again, 1st and 3rd tuesdays of each month. We have samples of the Jan. 4th class all done and YOU WILL want to make one! Maybe closer to you'll get a sneak peak. December proves to be to busy a month for people to come to class regularly, so in the meantime Barb and I will use December to get the spring classes organized and kick it off with a bang on Jan. 4th! Mark your calendar!

Angels

I finished my little angel blocks for our swap in Thornberries. Remember the little deer I did earlier, well these are part of that group, I'll turn mine in and each member will get one while I receive one that they've made of a different block. One of these days I'll line up all the different ones we've done, they are so cute! By the 10th one tho you are a bit sick of them. I started these on my trip to Mississippi last spring when we took the cabinets to Jeremy and Jamie's house. So yea they are done. I picked this one to do out of the book of course because of the American flag on the angel!

Happy Birthday Marcy!

Today is my dear sister Marcy's birthday. If you all don't have a perfect sister, than I'm sad for you and I'm glad she's mine! I gave her a sweet little necklace like I have with a charm with all my grandbabies names on it, so she has one that says Cailyn with a little pearl and in a couple months she'll be needing another since they have a new Grandson on the way. We enjoyed going out to lunch on sunday to celebrate her with my parents at Garcia's mexican Restaurant. Yum, it was so good. There is my Dad on the left, my Mom, then Marcy, her husband Vince and Ken. I hope you have a great day dear sister and thanks for belonging to me!

Thornberries in November

We had a great time at our Thornberry quilt meeting in November. Only 4 people showed up but we just had such a nice time visiting, we all needed a bit of escape from life. Sue was working on this quilt, all the light background brights she's collected made into stars with the darker colored ones, love the way she set it with the colors going in diagonal rows. Here is another one of Lorene's Christmas quilts. I got to show everyone my tree and red block quilt I had finished that I posted a few days back and a baby quilt that was done.
Sue had this one finished too, we had swapped all the pastel colors years ago and this is what she made out of hers...mine live in a baggie!
Then we had a pin cushion swap. Only 3 of us participated but we had such fun with it, we are hoping to do it next year with it being a round robin, you make your own base and then it's passed around to be added to and embellished to each person. So this is Lorene, she won the one I made, it was out of wool and a fall theme. Sue gave me a little acorn button to sew on it.
Sue won the one that Lorene made and it's a doughnut! The bottom is chocolate( brown wool) and it has white frosting(white wool) and sprinkles(beads)! Cute!
Sue made the strawberry, that is the one I won, isn't it darling, it has brads here and there thru the fabric for the seeds and the top is green wool, I love it! Lucky me! Can't wait to do it again!

Sneak Peak at Sew and Go

Here is a sneak peak at this weeks Sew and Go class at Scrapbooks Etc. We are making this cute little wallet. Here is the inside, places for credit cards and a pen and a zipper pocket.Here is the outside, have another sample almost done. We have 50 kits cut, 5 of each of the different color ways so there is alot to choose from, but come early cuz they are SOOO CUTE !

Catchin up with all the "boys"

We had a great day catching up with our Grandsons today. Bode and Chris met Ken and I for a bagel this morning, my goodness Bode has grown so much.

We all went to see Garrett's soccer game then, what fun to see 4 year olds run and play soccer!

Bode was such a happy guy today.
After the game, Ken took Aiden to his Golf lesson he gets to go to now and then, and Chris and Bode and I ran some errands, then came home and met everyone at home for sandwich lunch.
Ethan our little "charater"! We went for a long bike ride down the street in search of some geo caches, we hunted for one and never did find it. But the boys got alot of excercise and we had a great walk.
We stopped to see the goats down the street. 3 of them, that was fun, so we fed them some leaves.
Then everyone helped me make some fun party favors for our up and coming Thanksgiving dinner. We've got a crowd coming so we made this mix out of peanuts, indian candy corn and M&M's. Everyone got to dump and stir...

We made spaghetti dinner, actually Amy and Ethan made it while I did all the baths! Clean boys, tummies full...
Then it was time for Movie night, they brought Toy Story 3, that was such a cute movie! My first time to see it. So they all curled up in their quilts and ate popcorn and we loved the movie, they were so excited to get it from their Mommy, a big surprise.
What a great day! Boy was it cold out this evening, so they all were carried out to the car in their quilts and I bet at least 2 will be asleep before they get home ! Thanks for the fun day everyone!

Dollar Bills

I love getting these bills to track. I got 3 of them in Texas. They are fun to look up and record. Two were where's George and another was one called Track Dollar. So one came from Oregon, another from Tempe Arizona and the other from Indiana. I recorded them all and brought them home to give them more mileage. I think I'll give them to my 3 big boys to each get to record and then spend on a treat.

A finished UFO

I finished this quilt on my trip to Texas, it was my cover up on the plane both ways. These blocks were a swap we did in my Thornberry quilt group many years ago, we swapped the tree blocks and then the red blocks. I set mine this way and it'll hang in my family room next month. I quilted it last spring and got the binding on but had never stitched it down, so yea for long flights, I got it done!

San Antonio

Finally! The few photo's I took from my trip with Jeremy to San Antonio for his eye surgery. This is the center at Lackland AFB that they do the vision correction at. His was PRK. Amazing technology, I did video the whole procedure thru the window on Jeremy's phone so who knows if that might show up on their blog. He had appointments some days here and some days across the road at the huge hospital the Air Force has there. The lasers and surgeries are all done at this center, it was interesting how set up they are for it with big groups all going thru it at the same time, you could tell what part of the process they were in even by how dim the lights were inside the building! A couple appointments the day before, then the day of surgery, the day after surgery and then a couple days later, before being released to their own eye doctors on their perspective bases.We had a wonderful hotel to stay at, we didn't ever move to Randolph as the rates were quite high on Base for what these rooms cost, And there was a lovely breakfast and what other state would have waffles in the shape of their state!
One morning we did venture out in the day light and stopped to visit with this nice man that is building an RV plane similar to the one Jeremy wants to build. It was great for me to see how it worked and see the one he had in his hanger that he was building, quite the process! I loved the colors he painted this one. Thank goodness it was in the shade, this was our only daylight excursion other than the eye Dr. appointments so the sun was a little bright! We were very nocturnal.
We went to Gruene ( pronounced like the color Green) Texas, what a quiant little place, if you ever get to that area look it up. This is the oldest dance hall in Texas, there was a country band playing there so we sat and listened at these old wooden tables that have probably been there for decades. Meryl Haggard had just played on that stage the night before.
Next door was the Gristmill, what a great place to eat.
It's high on the banks of the river where the mill was and alot of the stone walls are intact, it rambles up and over all kinds of areas with patio seating, we had the most fantastic burgers and then we shared this strawberry shortcake that was to die for! What a great week it was to share with my youngest! He was able to drive the 3 hours home monday from Jackson Miss. so he's home and sees his eye dr. today. It'll be interesting to hear what improvements he'll have. Every day he was seeing better. I'm so glad I got to experience this as I understand now why the Air Force is doing this, nothing better than a pilot with perfect vision! I will think of you Jeremy next time I open up the oven door and my glasses fog up or I get that speck in my contacts! I'm so glad you withstood this week of hell to get where you'll be! A much clearer seeing pilot is about to embark!

Sew and Go November

Here are the photo's from our Sew and Go last week at Scrapbooks. I left right after on the plane to Texas so these are a little behind! Everyone had a great time making these little table mats. There were blue with snowflakes, Red with snowmen....and the gold with green trees. Hey Dilly it was nice to have you come! It's always so fun to see all the people that come each time and then we always have a couple new ones.
Alot of pretty table mats will be out over the holidays with a candle in the middle or a candy dish or maybe some will be sent to the neighbors with a plate of cookies on top!
