Finished projects

Well 2 more projects that have been in the works are done. Here is a pair of blue booties for our new little grandbaby coming in June. True Confession.....I'm not to good at booties, I made five of these little guys to get 2 of the same size ! So maybe I'll have to keep going with the other 3 laying here to see if I can get any to come out the same size as the 3 that are homeless! and here is a little baby quilt made for him. I took MB and Chris shopping for their "going home from the hospital clothes"for the little guy, then I made the quilt to match. Everything they chose was blue and brown and green. I used a pantagraph (pattern)when I quilted it with ABC's.
So this is just the first of a couple quilts started for him, this one is little for while he's tiny. Gotta have lots of sizes for different times !So I"m off to the baby shower, the quilt and clothes are all packed up, along with the new diaper bag and booties! Aren't baby things cute !

I LOVE SPRING !

Our yard is just in BLOOM ! Our purple plum tree is just loaded like it's never been before. This tree has blossoms that smell like grape jelly. The Popcorn is Poppin on the Apricot Tree ! The peach tree is just starting and the Grapefruit and Orange tree are making the whole yard smell delicious! Even the lemon tree that is on it's 3rd life has a couple blossoms on it ( it's trying hard !) All the rain we've had has everything so happy ! I love Springtime !

St. Patricks Day Celebration

Marybeth invited us over on St. Patricks day to celebrate with their family in their traditional Irish meal. Here is part of the Axman family, their Grandma from New York is here for a few weeks. This is Melissa, she made a guiness chocolate cake, yum.

Steve carving the corned beef... he only gets to stay this week and enjoy family, next week back to recruiting for Idaho football.
MB with her wonderful steamed vegetables...cabbage, carrots and apples. She used all her Mom's recipes and made Irish soda bread and mashed potatoes.
That was my first real traditional Irish meal, even had the red Irish beer to go along with it ! Thanks for including us MB and Chris. I was wondering tho what the Irish celebrate on St. Patricks day. Denise said she grew up being told it was when St. Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland.....does anyone know what the celebration is ???

Socks

Yes I'm taking pictures of my feet but you had to see these socks ! I am now the proud owner of a second pair of hand knit socks by Denise. Lucky me, these shrunk for her in the dryer but they fit my feet ! YEAH ! She knit me a pair a year or so ago and I"ve worn them out and darned them and now they are on the pile to be darned again. Ohhh if you've never had a pair of hand knit socks they are so comfy. So the famous sock knitter is on her way to London today to visit her daughter and I"m sure the needles are clicking away on the plane ! I love my new socks !

Fun times

We had such a nice lunch outside today at Firehouse Subs. We'd all gone shopping at the baby store for MB's shower this weekend. My folks, my Sister and niece Jennifer, along with Amy and the boys. Two of our little firemen. Of course 2 different fire trucks pulled up to get a sandwich while we were there so Ethan was so excited, one nice fireman waved at him and said Hi ! Ethan loves trucks.

He thought his hat was fun on mommy ! What a nice day off work to spend with everyone !

Quilt meeting in March

Our March quilt group met at Judy's house , we had such a nice time visiting and Judy had cleaned out all kinds of things and had lots of things to share for anyone who wanted them. Here is one of Sue's little quilt tops she's been working on. We had a little visitor....Madison. Terry P. brought her new little 8 month old puppy, she was so cute and just settled right in. She weighs almost 3 lbs. !
I think most of her is fur ! She's growing her hair out for her little "yorkie doo".Terry also got her little christmas tree blocks put together. This is a swap this group did quite a few years ago, mine is together too and on the pile that needs quilting.

Bobbi finished my Christmas present from 2 christmas's ago.

We had a great time and left with a warm feeling of a fun friend day.

3 boys spending the night

What a fun friday night we had ! 3 little boys came and spent the night. After our taco dinner we decided it was light enough to go around the corner to our neighborhood park. It was Garretts first time to ride all the way to the park on one of our bikes ! Here they go 1 - 2 - 3 !

Ethan sat so cute in the cart !

We had time to swing and play on the toys !

this was blurry but oh so cute of Garrett and Ethan ! Of course Ethan who isn't saying to much these days puts 2 words together " my turn" when they were coming down the slide ! Ken and I looked at each other and prompted him again, and "my turn" came out clear as day, but then that was it, couldn't get him to say it again !

Cutie pie peeking out the tunnel !

What a fun evening. Garrett went home the next morning with a sick tummy so hope he's feeling much better by now. We had to scoot fast as I had to get to work so out the door we all went !
I always miss my little guys when they are gone !

Picnic in the Sunshine!

After dropping Ethan back off from our morning adventure I went to enjoy a picnic out in the wonderful sunshine today ! Met up with Judy and Denise and Linda and we had a fun picnic and enjoyed sitting out in the beautiful weather. These were our flowerpot lunches. Denise had a bunch of finished things she brought for show and tell !
The sun was really bright when I took these so the colors aren't so good but it was fun to see all the UFO's she's been finishing the last few months !

What a georgeous day out, we've had so much rain the sun felt so good. Lots of snow on the mountains all around us so the breeze is cool, but we sure have nothing to complain about !

She's taking this one to London next week to give to her friend.

This was my favorite, all these birds on a wire appliqued on, so cute ! It's going on her kitchen wall.

Amy's Birthday !

We celebrated Amy's birthday this weekend, we started out at the Riparian Preserve to tromp around and find some geocaches. Lots of fun in the rainy weather, the rain stopped at the right time so we had lots of fun hunting for several..

We found them all but one. Just as it started sprinkling we'd found the last one so we walked to the car in the sprinkles, something we don't get to do to often around here !

Ethan and Papa

Aiden and yea his first tooth has come out !

This was the best geocache ! See the bird? The bird has some tupperware on it's back

This one was great too, Aiden is holding the turtle that was under a bush, it had a container under it's belly ! Very creative people out there hiding these !

Back to our house for dinner...MB made a fun fondue appetizer for us ! Everyone was a little wet and HUNGRY ! We had 2 kinds of stuffed shells, salad and I made the cheese bisquits from Red Lobster thanks to Jamie's recipe find !
Happy Birthday Amy !
A Chocolate Trifle Birthday Cake !

Quick trip to Tucson

Denise invited me to accompany her on a quick trip to Tucson to visit her sister Betty and husband Dale. So we left yesterday afternoon and hit a couple quilt stores on the way and then arrived at Betty and Dales house. They hosted us when we visited Vermont a few years back so it was nice to see them again and see the house they were talking about buying at that point in a little town southeast of Tucson called Green Valley.

This is Betty and Dale and Denise out on their patio overlooking the wash where they see lots of wild life. It's been neat for them to experience the desert which is so different from their beautiful Vermont.

I took this photo looking the other way of their view of the mountains south of Tucson, lots of snow on them so it was so pretty.
They had a nice dinner waiting for us to arrive and we enjoyed visiting in the evening with them. We got up the next morning and went to some garage sales, and then took off for our return trip via a couple more quilt stores !

Was neat for me to see this area and how it has built up. Had a nice ride home thru Florence since there was alot traffic messes on the interstate.... and we had to try these cupcakes after lunch. Denise is looking to create the perfect cupcake recipe so we sampled this special bakeries cupcakes, and decided they were not in the running, they were so pretty but they'd used Almond flavoring in everything so even the chocolate tasted like almond...not what you expect if you are wanting chocolate! But we arrived home safe and sound and enjoyed a fun 24 hour trip !

Little Boy Fix

After being gone for a week I needed a little boy fix yesterday ! I went down and picked Aiden up at school and we drove by their house to pick up the other two little ones, Garrett had the door open to the car before I was even around to his side and he had himself in his seat and getting his buckles all done himself now. He was not going to get left out ! Ethan was so excited to get included too ! So Aiden held a vote on the way....Sonic...McDonalds...or Swirl, well Swirl won and yes Ethan got to join the adventure this time. He was so cute when he climbed in the chair with his ice cream and knew he was to short to reach the table and the ice cream cup to tall. So I asked him right away if he'd like to sit on my lap and boy was he there in an instant and then he was the right height, what a smart kiddo !

Strawberry ice cream with sprinkles !

He finished his right up and wanted to go get more ! Garrett was having gummy bears along with his gummy worms this time. Aiden tried the swirl part so the chocolate and vanilla was mixed ! Aiden that tooth is looking pretty wiggly !Everyone went home good and sticky ! What a fun hour that was !
