We tried getting Cornish Pasty's for lunch and they were great ! We finished baking them and they were hot and so good. We tried 4 different ones and it was fun to taste them all. Here they are ready for the oven. We decided we loved them all ! Judy made cole slaw and I made some pineapple fruit boats.
Here's the birthday girl with her plate !
We enjoyed Denise's great cupcakes , and our little table centerpieces were a plastic truck and boat with fat quarters for her and her little grandsons coming to visit soon. It made the table very festive and fun !
these were our little party favors I made and filled with little hand/nail things. The little pocket things are a free download off the moda bakeshop web site.
Then it was time for presents ! I made Linda this tote bag with one of those little notepad holders to match.

and made these 3 frames inside for her grandson's pictures.
We did get to some sewing too. It was a slow start in the morning but we were much faster after our nourishment ! Denise and Linda and I have been working on this buggy barn pattern of houses since 2007 so we dig it out a couple times a year and make another set of blocks. It's a fun way to make blocks but does take some time and thinking along the way. You start with this drawing of the block on freezer paper and iron it down to the top of the stack of 6 fat quarters. You cut thru them all along the lines. You do a bit of shuffling with the order of each little stack. And start sewing one section to the next on each of the blocks.

And here are todays fininshed blocks. We aren't squaring them up until they are all finished...one more set to go !
Here is a picture of what the finished quilt will be, it's huge ! We have the trees done and all but 6 of the houses now are finished. Buggy Barn quilts are alot of fun but you do have to stay with each of the blocks until it's done or there are alot of little pieces to get mixed up !Here is what Judy was working on, it's going to be a big fabric wrapped bowl, it was coming out great !
So that was the end of a fun birthday party with friends ! It's back to work tomorrow and the "real " world but what a great day today with my friends !
