Seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors

We did play hookey one afternoon and at 4:00 after walking the show floor since 9 we headed to Houston's metro train and went to their Museum of Science and saw the Terra Cotta Warriors . There is some amazing history being discovered since about 1974 when they started unearthing the many pitts that were built that held these armies set there to protect their leader. The first emperor of all China born in 260 BC a fierce and dangerous time in Chinese history. He was a member of the Qin dynasty and held office from the age of 12. People worked their whole lives building this terra cotta army to protect their leader in the afterlife so this was all built around his one day tomb. There is some amazing things to read about it if you wish to goodle the Terra Cotta Soldiers but these were a group of 20 of them traveling the US and it just happened to be there while we were. These pictures are replica's as there were no photographs in the exhibit, it was an amazing thing to see.

This one was kneeling, they all held bronze weapons at some time but had been looted.this poster depicted what it looked like in their excavation as they were broken and crushed and in the foreground what it looked like as they were fixed and mended back together.

They were truely life size and there were horses and chariots in the exhibit.

Here and Ken and Mary and I standing by one of the replicas. It was an amazing thing to get to see, deemed to be one of the 10 wonders of the ancient world.
